The Killigrew’s are up to their usual devious ways in Falmouth and Queen Elizabeth is not at all happy.

Sir Francis Godolphin is fighting the Spanish in Penzance and is not at all happy.

Blissfully unaware and occasionally happy, the Tudor players of Penryn are staging ‘Samson & Delilah.’

The tour travels along Cornish coastal communities – from Mousehole to Penryn – where the Cornish and Spanish finally meet. Two worlds are about to collide both on and off the stage!

Jason Squibb (The Trench Levant Mine/Bodmin, Artistic Director for the Cornish Ordinalia 2021) directs, and brings together a cast of professional actors and

volunteer community performers. For audiences 8+

Montol Festival 2024 - Saturday 21 December 2024 Penzance (various venues)

A proper Celtic winter solstice six-day arts and community festival held at various venues across Penzance, started in 2007 by people involved in the midsummer Golowan festival.

The festival is a revival - or reinterpretation - of many of the traditional Cornish midwinter customs and Christmas traditions which were formerly practised in and around the Penzance area - and were once common to much of Cornwall.

Montol is held on the traditional date of the feast of St Thomas the Apostle, usually the 21st of December, which always coincides with the winter solstice.

Fire performers and 'Obby 'Osses, guise beasts and musicians: all these will be out and about from 2pm on 21st December - around Jubilee Market Jew Street, Green Market and Causewayhead, to be joined by Christmas carol singers, choirs and dancers. We invite everyone to join us - for the family-friendly events during the day and early evening, and an edgier, adult menu of guild-led misrule as the darkness deepens. When it gets late, anything can happen.
